TEACHER-LIBRARIAN

1. DESCRIPTION OF SCHOOL LEVEL DELIVERY MODEL

A Teacher-Librarian collaborates with all school staff and: 

a) promotes the role of the Teacher-Librarian and the Library Learning Commons as integral components in the development of
    lifelong learners;

b) facilitates collaborative engagement to cultivate and empower a community of learners;

c) uses collaborative instructional design to co-plan, teach and evaluate learning opportunities to support student growth
    over time;

d) provides opportunities for students to develop competencies that support them in becoming information and digitally literate
    lifelong learners;

e) fosters exploration of various literacies to empower lifelong readers through the Library Learning Commons collection
    and programs;

f) designs learning environments to support participatory learning including equitable access to the print and digital Library
    Learning Commons collection;

g) establishes and implements procedures for the evaluation and selection of library resources with the goal of developing a
    curated collection that is current, comprehensive, and reflective of the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion;

h) plans and administers Library Learning Commons budgets;

i) plans for the effective use of clerical staff (if allocated).

2. MINIMUM ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

a) a Bachelor of Education Degree or equivalent;

b) valid B.C. Teaching Certificate;

c) 5 senior level (300 or higher) Teacher-Librarian courses;

d) a minimum of two years satisfactory classroom teaching experience.

3. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

a) a diploma or master's degree in Teacher-Librarianship. 

4. REPORTING STRUCTURE

The personnel in this position reports to the principal of the assigned school(s).
