Surrey Schools’ administration hub, the District Education Centre, officially opened on Sept. 11, 2011. The $30 million, 11,611 square metre, four-storey building houses close to 30 district departments.

Awarded LEED Gold status by the Canada Green Buildings Council in June 2012, the DEC features a geothermal heating and cooling system, solar roof panels, high-efficiency lighting, water-efficient landscaping and thermal glass windows and skylights.
